Sodium claims

What Do They Mean?

Salt/Sodium-free 

  • < 5 mg sodium/serving


Very Low Sodium 

  • 35 mg sodium or less/serving


Low Sodium 

  • 140 mg sodium or less/serving


Reduced Sodium 

  • >25% less sodium than the regular product


Light in Sodium or Lightly Salted

  • >50% less sodium than the regular product


No-Salt-Added or Unsalted

  • No salt is added during processing
  • Products may not be salt/sodium-free unless stated
